The Himalaya DRM2008 is a standalone radio incorporating DRM, analog AM and FM services at an affordable price. Its programmable platform uses a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) that enables software upgradeable features by a PC via the USB port.
The advanced active antenna ensures clear reception. In addition, the SDcard socket turns DRM2008 into an MP3 player. Despite the wide range of functions on the radio, easy navigation is possible using the well-designed interface.
DRM2008 can be scheduled to record broadcast audio onto the SDcard for later retrieval. There is no limit on recording length besides the SDcard capacity. Together with the portability of the radio, favorite programs or news can be heard anytime, anywhere. DRM2008 uses a powerful BlackFin processor from Analog Devices and decodes digital broadcast based on Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) standard in the AM frequency band. For ease of operation, the band has been divided into LW/MW, SW1, SW2, SW3 bands and can be easily selected by a switch. Specifying a frequency or station is easy thanks to the progressively accelerated tuning feature. A continuous press of the Up/Down keys increments/decrements the frequency and the rate of change of tunable frequency varies with the duration of the key press. DRM2008 incorporates Automatic Frequency Selection (AFS) for radio stations and can switch to the optimal frequency based on the time and signal strength. DRM2008 makes listening to DRM – a widely adopted standard worldwide that provides better audio quality -- an enjoyable experience.
